Sweet Valentines

Valentine's Day is almost here!  I love love love Valentine's Day.  Tonight the boys had a Valentine's Day dance at their school.  It was less "dance" and more "run in circles" but they had a blast regardless. lol
When CJ was in PreK he brought in fabric roses for all the little girls in his class.  It was sooo sweet and innocent and perfect.  Look at that face!  Ahhh how things have changed....now he wants no part of anything mushy.  I thought I could keep the tradition alive with Jake, but he outright refused to do this last year in PreK.  He was actually appalled at the suggestion.  Ha!  They do give out valentines, but all the same for everyone.  Nothing special for the girls...for now.  I'll give it a few more years for CJ and I'm sure this will change.  :)

Halloween Eve!

We are busy getting ready for Halloween over here.  Halloween is so much fun!  Getting to dress up and pretend to be someone else is great, and let's not forget the CANDY!!!  Jake is going to be a ninja for Halloween this year and CJ has picked out his first "scary" big boy costume.  :(  I was a little disappointed because I like to keep them little and cute for as long as possible, but I let him choose what he wanted with the limitation of nothing bloody or gory.  He IS getting older and even though I would like to keep him my baby forever, I have to let him grow.  He picked the Ghost Face costume from the Scream movie.  He has never seen those movies (of course) but he liked the creepy ghost face.  He really is getting so big.  He used to be TERRIFIED of scary Halloween stuff.  We couldn't even let him see it in the stores, he would scream at the top of his lungs!  LOL

We are pretty excited to go trick or treating this year.  Last year we weren't able to go because of Hurricane Sandy.  Our neighborhood lost power for about 5 days.  The boys did get to be on the Jimmy Kimmel Show again last year though, so that was a fun treat for them (and us)!  They were taping in Brooklyn, so it was convenient for us to make it.  They actually sat through the whole show!  Here's some pics from backstage.

We're giving out Reese's Peanut Butter Cups to our trick or treaters this year!  What else??  lol I had to hide them from the kids though, or we'd have none left!!  What can I say?  They don't call me sneaky mom for no reason.

You may have heard CJ mention that he was "outta control with the brownies" in my youtube video.  I had made "Graveyard Brownies" for dessert that year and this is what he was talking about.  They WERE good!

Here's some photos of the last few Halloweens

2012 Mario and Luigi

2011 Frankenstein and Lego Man-I made this Lego Man costume myself!  Of course CJ would request a costume that could not be found at any store, anywhere!!  lol  I made it out of cardboard and "duck" tape.

2010 Toy Story Gang-This one is my favorite.  I like to do group costumes, but the kids have been picking individual costumes the past few years.

2009 Shaggy, Daphne, Scooby and Scrappy Doo
Nice face CJ!  hahaha

I hope you enjoyed this Halloween wrap up!  Pics of this Halloween to follow....

April Fools!

So today is April Fool's Day...and in true Sneaky Mom form, I have been trying to come up with a fun trick to play on the boys. I saw this on pinterest and new it was perfect!
I can't wait to see their faces! LOL My kids LOVE their brownies. As a matter of fact, you can even hear CJ talking about brownies in the Halloween youtube video.

You SNEAKY MOM!

On second thought, maybe I should tell them I ate all of their Easter candy??!! Hahahaha. They are too smart for that. They'd never fall for that trick again. :)

Easter Fun

Every year we go to a cute little farm a couple of towns away called Benner's Farm. Each spring they have an event called "Barnyard Babies." They allow the kids (and parents) to hold all the spring babies they have on their farm. You can hold baby bunnies (my favorite), chicks, and ducklings. Sometimes they have baby goats you can bottle feed. Not this year though.

Every year I want to take a bunny home with me so badly!!! CJ too now!! But we resisted. They are so darn cute!

We also did our annual egg hunt at our house with the boys. This was the first year that Jake was really able to keep up with CJ. He did really good! Picture is terrible from the sunlight but I'm not complaining because its been a long time since we've seen the sun here in NY!

Mystery Reader

For Jake's birthday this year, CJ and I went to his PreK class as the "mystery reader" of the week. Luckily CJ's teacher was nice enough to cooperate with us to make this happen. AND he got to get out of class a few minutes early, which he loved of course!
Unfortunately they were all in the cafeteria for an assembly at the time, and Jake overheard the teacher pulling CJ out for "early dismissal" which made Jake very upset that CJ was going home but not him! Poor Jakey!!
By the time we surprised him in the classroom, he was already in a bad mood and close to tears. Can you say birthday surprise gone wrong?! Lol poor kid. CJ did a great job reading to Jake's class though. He is a GREAT reader!

Jake's first day of PreK!

So Jake started school on Friday.  He did so well!  He went right in with his bookbag on his back and a big smile on his face!  Quite the opposite of CJ who cried a river for the first week of PreK AND Kindergarten!  lol  That's the classic first and second child personalities I'm told.  lol

I am so proud of my little guy.  I can't believe how time has passed so quickly.  Speaking of time passing quickly, the 2 1/2 hours a day he's at school goes by like lightening!  lol  I am really enjoying the time to myself though.  I could get used to this!!  hahaha

CJ the artist

Something you may not know about CJ is that he is an AMAZING artist.  I can not express how impressed I am with his drawings.  I have no artistic ability whatsoever, so he definitely did not inherit this talent from me.  Nevertheless, I am so proud of his artwork.  What do you all think?
